Feature Highlight: Citizen Portal
Homeowners check status with an access code and no account. Repeat applicants get a My Permits dashboard with linked records, fee totals, and a single to-do list across every open permit.
All applicants are different: a homeowner fixing a deck wants a link to their permit application in their email and nothing else; a contractor running twelve jobs wants one place to see what is still outstanding on each job. GovKodo handles both situations seemlessly, giving citizens flexibility while keeping the permit review process simple for staff.
Access code portal — no login required
Every permit gets an access code. The applicant opens the portal link from their email, enters the provided code, and sees permit status, staff corrections, required uploads, and scheduled and requested inspections. They can respond to correction requests and upload files without creating an account or resetting a password.
Citizen Permit Portal for repeat applicants
Citizens who create an account can link permits by access code and see every open job in one dashboard. Outstanding fees roll up across permits. A consolidated to-do list shows what still needs action on each record — upload this document, pay this invoice, schedule this inspection — so contractors are not clicking through six separate portal links.
Staff reviews visible in portal
Whether it's the standalone single link or the sign-in experience portal, staff reviews, external comments, needed corrections, and document uploads are visible to the applicant once the permit is approved/denied/sent back for correction, while showing where in the review process the permit is.
